Barcode labels required to vault to a tape library

The Quantum DATASTOR Shield and DATASTOR Enterprise Protection Server software require barcode labels be affixed to tapes when used with a tape library, e.g. the Quantum SuperLoader 3.

Affix a barcode label to the spine of each tape cartridge, opposite the side that exposes the tape. Then, insert the tapes into the tape library. For more information, refer to our article Purchasing barcode labels.

The "Configure Tape Devices" wizard can then run successfully.

A standalone tape drive does not require a physical barcode label be affixed to a tape since a standalone tape drive does not come equipped with a barcode reader. In this case the software will keep track of tapes by requiring you to label each tape using the software's "label and assign" operation.
